While planning for Discoveries ’08 in Fredericktown, our board decided to try a new approach. They decided to produce radio ads to bring awareness to the series in our community. We didn’t have the equipment to make them ourselves so we contracted with the local Nazarene College radio station to produce the spots. We then sponsored a total of 80 minutes of radio time on their station and on local secular AM and FM stations.
While we were able to track much to the radio spots and felt that it was a good way to tell people about the meetings, we discovered that most folks who came mentioned the flyer or a friend as to why they came.
We had a total of 43 non-members who attended Discoveries ’08. Twelve of them came nearly every night. Our church has 120 members with about 70 to 80 that attend so we were thrilled with the number of guests. One family of four who are attending Sabbath services are making decisions that are drawing them closer. In addition, there are four other individuals who continue to be interested in the Bible truths they have heard, so we’re praying that they too will be part of the Discoveries ’08 harvest.
