Blood Pressure Booths
.
These booths or tables have been used very successfully in conjunction with evangelistic meetings, but they can be set up at anytime. This outreach allows the healthcare professionals of your church to get involved at their comfort level. The goal is to set up booths or tables in front of local stores where blood pressures will be taken and information about health and the church can be distributed.

Recruit nurses or other health care professionals to conduct this outreach. Our local church had a health ministry that was already offering blood pressure checks and other services, so it wasn’t difficult to recruit workers. The most challenging task we encountered was the red tape to get permission to provide the service. Some stores were part of a store chain that had strict rules against such services in front of their buildings. In those instances, we asked for a spot inside the store. Independently owned and operated stores are much easier to deal with!

When the store is chosen and an agreement signed with the manager, choose a popular time to set up the booth. Some stores will give you a range of options. If not, ask them what time the store is busiest, and set up then. The manager will probably suggest a spot that is close to foot traffic, but not obstructing the entrance of the building. Ask the volunteers to dress in uniform. It is impressive and draws attention. Station the workers at the booth with all the necessary equipment. They should be prepared to answer questions and distribute health related brochures.
